Youth Sports Programs

 

The YMCA of York County offers a variety of Youth Sports programs for kids and teens. Program descriptions, times and fees vary by location. For more information or to register, please contact the hosting branch. As with all Y programs, financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

Gym Kids & Gym Tots (Ages 2–6) 

Children will build upon basic gymnastic skills and learn skills such as front rolls, cartwheels, and more. Children will also work on the balance beam, bars and trampoline in each class.
 

Indoor & Outdoor T-Ball (Ages 3–6) 

Participants will learn or enhance their baseball skills, including base running, fielding and hitting using a batting tee or live pitch dependent on skill development.
 

Indoor & Outdoor Youth Lacrosse (Ages 4-6)

Designed to introduce the sport of lacrosse and the skills required to join a team. Parents and/or guardians are required to participate in practice so skills can be taught at home.

Designed to introduce the sport of basketball and the skills required to join a team. Appropriate basket heights for this age group will be used. 
  

Youth Basketball Class (Ages 4-5, 6-8) 

In a small group setting, participants will gain skill enhancement as well as teamwork, sportsmanship, making new friends and having fun.

Youth Indoor Soccer Class (Ages 4-5, 6-8) 

In a small group setting, participants will gain skill enhancement as well as teamwork, sportsmanship, making new friends and having fun.  
 

Sports Galore Class (Ages 4-5, 6-8) 

In a small group setting, participants are introduced to a variety of sports, teamwork, sportsmanship, amking new friends and having fun.  Begins early January.
 
 

NFL Flag Football (Ages 4–14) 

NFL Flag Football is a premier youth football organization. This is a non-contact league where participants learn about the game while developing teamwork and sportsmanship. All participants will receive team NFL jerseys.

Wee Kicks Soccer (Ages 3–4)

Participants will learn basic soccer skills including dribbling, passing, shooting and more.

Soccer (Ages 3–4)

Designed to introduce the sport of soccer and the skills required to join a team.

6U Soccer (Ages 5–6)

This program is designed to enhance soccer skills in a team format.
 

Fall Co-ed Outdoor Soccer League

Participants will work on soccer skills in an instructional setting through practices and games. This 9-week program is for youth of all skill levels between the ages of 4-11. Program runs each year from mid-September through November at the York and Dover YMCA Branches on Saturday mornings and one weekday evening each week.   

 

 

Winter Co-ed Indoor Soccer League

Participants work on skills in an instructional setting through practices and games. This 9-week program is for youth of all skill levels between the ages of 4-11. Program runs each year from early February through April at the York, Dover and Eastern Y Branches on Saturday mornings and one weekday evening.

Pre-Season Basketball Clinic

All are welcome to join in this pre-season clinic.  Meet the basketball league instructor and gain some skill enhancement in preparation for the league.  For ages 4-11.  Dec. 12, 2012
 

Youth/Teen Co-ed Dodge Ball League

For ages 8-10 and 11-14. Join us for non-stop games in a fun, recreational setting. Games are played with safe and soft, rubber-coated, foam balls. Teams are formed after the first day. Program runs each year from mid-October through December.
 

Spring Co-ed T-ball League (Ages 4-8)

   

For beginners and experienced players. Participants will learn and enhance their baseball/softball skills including throwing, fielding, hitting and more through instruction, practices and games. Youth who are ready to advance past hitting off the tee, will gain "soft-pitch" from the staff and coaches.

Girls Intramural Volleyball Program

For girls ages 11-15. This fun program will enhance your volleyball skills through instruction, drills, practices and games. Program for 11-15 year olds is offered from mid-November through January and again from February through April. Look for an 9-10 year-old session beginning in early April through May. Program runs in the York YMCA gym on Mondays from 7 - 8:30 pm.
 

Girls Volleyball Clinic

For girls in grades 5-8.  Great opportunity to learn from highly qualified instructors and prepare for our "intramural program", "club program", or school volleyball.  Early Oct.   
 

Co-Ed Indoor Floor Hockey League

For ages 8-10. Recreational, non-competitive program.  Teams formed the first week, along with a practice session for all.  Remaining weeks includes games.  Safety equipment includes goggles, hand shield, blade covers and helment for the goalies.  Program begins in March.  Must register by Feb. 18.
