Affordable Housing
Over the past decade, the YMCA of York & York Co., has implemented an affordable housing program available to men, women and families.
Historic Fairmount Apartments and SMB Properties/Scattered Sites
Located on North Beaver Street in York, PA, the Historic Fairmount Apartments are our most recent developments. Working in a partnership with the York Historical Society, we have restored several multi-family homes to their original beauty. All modern conveniences are available, including central air conditioning and heat, a dishwasher, range, and refrigerator, cable TV, and updated security features. A community room and laundry area is available to all tenants.
In addition to the Historic Fairmount Apartments, the YMCA also owns several properties throughout West Market Street and West King Street. Within these properties (named SMB to promote the importance of the Spirit, Mind, and Body focused mission of the YMCA), spacious apartments are available for rent. Recently renovated and updated, amenities include central heat and air conditioning, all major appliances, and limited off street parking. Designed for singles and families alike, these apartments are a jewel in the downtown area.
One, two, three and four bedroom units are available for rent within these two communities with rent prices ranging from $350-$550 per month. Applications can be obtained by visiting the YMCA Residence Department at 310 West Philadelphia Street in York, PA. There are income restrictions set on each unit as required by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.
