Youth Programs

The YMCA continues its pledge to build strong kids by offering enriching programming to help the youth of today grow into the leaders of tomorrow.

The YMCA’s Y Achievers is a college-preparatory enrichment program that helps teens and young adults (in grades 7 through 12) prepare for their futures.  Participants benefit from career exploration, SAT preparation, networking and mentoring as well as college tours and leadership development workshops.

Youth and Government gives teens the opportunity to tackle issues of national and regional concern.  Teens learn how to debate, develop and present bills, and process court cases throughout the yearlong program.

The YMCA’s Model United Nations (MUN) introduces students to the operation and structure of the United Nations while providing them with an opportunity to actively learn about world cultures and debate issues of international importance.  Students participate in conflict resolution, public speaking and coalition building.  Weekly local meetings help students prepare for a regional MUN conference.

The Young Gentlemen and Scholars(YGS) is a leadership development program for boys aged 8 through 12 years to acquire the tools necessary to successfully transition to middle school and beyond.

For more information about these programs, contact (717) 843-7884.

Youth Sports Leagues

The YMCA offers non-competitive sports leagues that do not focus on winning, but rather on team-building and good citizenship.  The first three weeks of each league consist of skill development and practice, with the remaining weeks devoted to games within the league.  All players receive a t-shirt, medal and pizza party.  Leagues are open to kids aged 3 through 17.  Sports include Basketball, Soccer and Baseball.

GAPP (Girls Achieving Pure Potential)
