Fitness & Arts Classes for Kids

The Bob Hoffman YMCA knows how important it is to get up and get moving.  We offer a range of fitness classes for young kids designed to get them moving and keep them active.  Choose from our Parent and Toddler Class, Trompin’ Tuesdays for 3 year-olds, Kids R Fit Fridays for 4 and 5 year-olds, and the SPARKS (Sports Play and Active Recreation for Kids) Program.  We also offer a weekly Home School Gym Class for kids aged 4 and up.

For those looking for a little something more, we also offer Creative Dance for ages 4 through 8, Creative Movement for 3 year-olds, Safe Kids Taekwondo for kids ages 6 through adult, and Twist Away.

Preschool

We are very proud of our Preschool program, which serves children ages 2 through 6 with four different levels of instruction.  Our preschool is a safe and nurturing place where your child can learn, make new friends and reach his or her personal potential.  We don’t just prepare kids for school – we prepare them to excel in school.  Beginning with the 2007-2008 school year, we are launching “All Kids Count,” a pilot effort to work with local service providers to enable children with disabilities to attend class with their peers in a fully inclusive classroom setting.  And that’s not all – this fall, we are adding French language instruction to our curriculum!

For more information or to register, contact the Dover Branch at (717) 292-5622.

Your three year-old will love Fun Fridays, a 2 hour class offered every week during the school year. Your preschooler will enjoy this hands-on class filled with stories, songs, crafts and opportunities for fun socialization.  For more information call (717) 292-5622.

Our Jelly Rolls class makes Wednesday afternoons fun for your 4 or 5 year-old.  Kids pack a lunch and join friends to eat, learn, listen to stories, do crafts and much more.  For more information call (717) 292-5622.

Youth Sports Leagues

The YMCA offers non-competitive sports leagues that do not focus on winning, but rather on team-building and good citizenship.  The first three weeks of each league consist of skill development and practice, with the remaining weeks devoted to games within the league.  All players receive a t-shirt, medal and pizza party.  Leagues are open to kids aged 3 through 17.  Sports include Basketball, Soccer, T-Ball, Flag Football and Baseball.
