Deborah Klinedinst

Executive Director
Deb’s love for the YMCA of York and York County started the day her Girl Scout Troop visited the Phillie Pool at the YMCA for a swim. Her 25 plus year career at the YMCA has evolved over the years from a secretarial position to her present position as Executive Director of the Southern Branch. She is currently a student at Springfield College, Wilmington Campus, pursuing a BS in Human Services.

Deb’s certifications and trainings include: the Career Development Program – Basic, Fitness Instructor Training;Effective Supervision, Volunteerism, Hartford Financial Development; Group Work, Fiscal Management & Budgeting, YMCA Membership by Design; Supervision, Problem Solving, & Active Older Adults, and; Leadership York, Executive Connections.

Deb’s volunteer affiliations include First Church of the Brethren, the Junior League, York County Library System, Rotary of Southern York County, and the Southern York County Business Association.

Deb has been married for 36 years to Greg, and they have two children, Matthew and Jennifer.  Her hobbies are reading, gardening, sewing, volunteering and cooking.




Membership

Pat Smith

Membership Director
Pat has been an employee at the YMCA’s Southern Branch for over 11 years. She began working at the branch’s front desk shortly after the YMCA moved into its building on Constitution Avenue. She was responsible for maintaining and updating program information when the YMCA converted to a new computer software program in 2001.  In December 2004, she became the Membership Director at the Southern Branch.  She also helps with the YMCA’s new online registration program.

Pat was born and raised in Montana.  When she got married, she moved to Boston, MA, where she and her family lived for almost 20 years.  Pat relocated with her husband to Shrewsbury in 1992.  Her son, Greg, who was a fixture at the Southern Branch for many years as a hockey player and rink employee, recently graduated from York College of Pennsylvania.  Pat enjoys getting together with friends, volunteering with community organizations, reading, playing with her 3 cats, and cooking when she has the time.




AQUATICS

Richard R. Shinnick

Senior Director, Aquatics, Youth and Family
Rich is starting his eighth year at the YMCA’s Southern Branch. He splits his time between aquatics and youth/families programming.  Rich continues to enrich people’s lives with dynamic programs that help build healthy minds, bodies, and spirits. He has one more class to complete toward his Master's degree in management.  Rich is married and lives with his family in Bel Air, Maryland.




FITNESS

Carolyn Cook

Fitness and Sports Director
Carolyn joined the YMCA of York and York County in 2001 as a group fitness instructor, and became a personal fitness trainer in 2005.  She was promoted to Fitness and Sports Director in August 2006.  She has studied at the University of Dayton and Northern Virginia with a concentration in business, accounting and computers.

Prior to relocating to Pennsylvania in 1998, Carolyn worked as a project manager for a computer consulting firm.  She became serious about exercise after her third child was born.  “Becoming a personal trainer changed my life and the way I work with people,” she says.  “I feel I bring great experience from my group fitness background to all I work with.”  Carolyn holds YMCA certifications in Personal Training Instruction, Cardio and Step Aerobics, Workings with Teens, Training Others, Group Exercise, and Principles of YMCA Health and Fitness.
