SURVIVOR [definition]: noun; someone with great power of endurance and determination.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a FREE 12-week research-based program that supports cancer survivors in regaining their physical, emotional and spiritual strength. This health and wellness exercise program is conducted in a small group environment that includes individualized attention for each participant. Adult survivors are eligible to join the program during all stages of recovery.

This program also serves and embraces the families and caregivers that have been affected by the disease by providing a free family membership throughout the course of the program.

Every year the YMCA host a Golf Outing and a Black Tie Gala to raise dollars to support the sustainability of this program.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA has had tremendous impact: on the survivor participants, the instructors who work with them, and on the Y as an organization. This program has helped us strengthen our commitment to our mission of building healthy spirits, minds and bodies for ALL. It is our hope to serve as many survivors as possible, and your support of this signature event is necessary to achieve that goal.

The YMCA of York and York County has demonstrated a commitment to improve wellbeing through our diverse programs for the various needs within the York community. To keep the program accessible, we pledge to deliver the program “free of charge” to survivors and their caregivers, but we can’t do this without the support of the community and contributor.
